A Historic Tribute to Turkey’s Founding Father

On November 10, 2024, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport commemorated the 86th anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s passing with a unique and heartfelt ceremony. A special holographic projection of Atatürk’s voice and image delivering excerpts from his 10th Anniversary Speech (10. Yıl Nutku) brought passengers together in a moment of reflection and reverence.


Holographic Projection Brings Atatürk’s Voice to Life

At precisely 08:50 AM, a 3D hologram display of Atatürk’s speech was showcased on the mezzanine floor of the terminal. The three-minute tribute captured Atatürk’s presence so vividly that passengers felt as though he was speaking directly to them. The moving tribute coincided with sirens, prompting many travelers to pause and participate in the ceremony.

The tribute, which was highly visible from both the air and land side of the terminal, concluded with a standing ovation from onlookers. The event ended with a moment of silence and the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem in front of Atatürk’s bust.


A Special Ceremony for All Passengers

Coinciding with the start of the school break, the terminal was bustling with travelers, many of whom joined the ceremony. The holographic display will be repeated tomorrow at the same time, ensuring more visitors have the opportunity to experience this meaningful commemoration.
